'Better' is subjective, of course, but wood is a thicker material than cotton, so it burns slower and more evenly.

This means the sustainability advantage of wood wicks is they produce less smoke and soot, also prolonging the candle’s life.

The crackling of wood wicks can also recreate that soothing sound of a fireplace, and (in our humble opinion) they look extra cozy!

• Small candles, up to 8 oz, work well in spaces approximately 80-100 sq. ft. (bathroom, small office)

• Medium-sized candles, 8-10 oz, are perfect for 150-300 sq. ft. (kitchen, midsize living room)

• Large candles, 12+ oz, can fill open-concept layouts and rooms over 300 sq. ft.

Having 2 or more medium candles also works well to fill larger spaces with complementary scents.

Think about what scents and textures you gravitate towards — woodsy scents are usually masculine-leaning and warm. Citrus and green notes feel fresh, bright, and summery. And

Earthy smells are the most distinctive (not for everyone!) If fragrances were symphonies, earthy notes would be the baritone.

Just be sure to clean the containers thoroughly so that you don't accidentally get greasy fingers from wax residue (generally skin-safe – just uncomfy lol)

• Pour boiling water into the container
• Hairdryer (careful! wax drops could get on it – better for small amounts of wax)
• Fill an aluminium tray with water, place the candles you want to melt down and pop into the oven at a low temperature.
